Gordon Giltrap Playing Heart’s Song
May 7th, 2008 by Mike
I've been a fan of British guitarist Gordon Giltrap for many years. Heart's Song was the first thing I heard him play as it was used as theme music for the BBC's Holiday program in the 1970's. It went on to be nominated for an Ivor Novello award.
Over the years, Gordon has worked with an amazingly broad range of artists, from rock musicians such as Brian May, Rick Wakeman and Midge Ure to the jazz virtuoso Martin Taylor, the classical guitarist Raymond Burley and the London Symphony Orchestra.
Gordon plays holding a pick between his thumb and first finger, and then fingerpicks with his remaining fingers including his pinky. Heart's Song is more about strumming though.
